Yoga

Question from David Moore, Oldham:

How does Yoga differ from general stretching exercises?

Does Yoga have any extra benefits than just doing traditional stretching exercises or am I wasting my time learning the techniques?

Answer from Liam Marshall, Birmingham:

Normal stretching exercises are goal focused depending on how many repetitions you have set yourself. If you do not reach your specified goal, you may feel that you have failed. Yoga on the other hand measures success by how much you have tried. It is more about the process of how you focus on what you are doing and how you feel by successfully performing the exercises. Some other stretching exercises will help to build up muscles whereas yoga will strengthen and tone muscles instead.
